To ensure the best sound quality of the audio files on your phone system, make sure you’re using the maximum bit-rate file that your system can handle. Older systems required low bit-rate wave or proprietary files, but newer generation boxes can handle even up to the highest quality audio files.
If you want the most bang-for-your-buck, see if your system can handle 16-bit files instead of the usual 8-bit. This will dramatically improve the perceived quality of your audio. Unfortunately, these files still have to play over numerous and varying telephone networks that all add their own color and noise to the audio. This is why Walsh Media employs special EQ filters and compression schemes to maximize quality in even the lowest bit-rate files.
